ReplyDeletePLS HELP ME TO SIGN IN
When I sync my color notes to my gmail account. When can I see them when I sign-in? Help.
ReplyDeleteColour note online sync, sync with what server and how to sign up?
ReplyDeleteI sync'd my colornotes with Gmail. Where are they in Gmail?
ReplyDeleteAs scottmarshall, where in Gmail the notes sync?
ReplyDeleteCan there be viewed?
About Sync : When you sync on the phone, it sync notes with ColorNote Online Service. You can sync notes between phone and tablet or you can restore notes on the new phone. We will support PC client later.
ReplyDeleteIt does not send notes to your gmail. It uses google account to authorize user.
My phone (Nexus S) and my new tablet (Eee Pad Transformer) both use ColorNote. It works perfectly and the Sync is working without a flaw. I have also been using the notes the write my eMails, with the note open, select Menu, Send, and you eMail client. The note title becomes the subject line in the eMail, and the rest of the note becomes the body of the eMail. With this same technique I create eMail templates to file out later to eMail. I now have 20 templates in my notes I use weekly.
DeleteThanks for such a great app.
When I sync online {through Facebook) it shows I have 14 notes, yet only 4 are visible on my phone. How can I get the other 10 back? I looked at SD sync and I don't have them. I setup the online sync before getting my droid replaced.
DeletePlease help.
@Darkster - where are you seeing the 14 notes?
DeleteWhen I'm in the seatings screen and hit "Online Sync" it shows "14 Items" at the bottom
DeleteOdd - I see the same behaviour.
DeleteI've see 24 in online sync, but 7 in SD Backup.
I can guess that the number includes a count of unique notes ever sync'd, but that'd be conjecture.
Might be a worth an email to the developer?
"We will support PC client later."
DeleteSeems a lot like bullshitting users when you read in ColorNote "Online synchronisation : Google *account id* - "Sync notes : 20"
It's called a lie by omission.
You don't tell in ColorNote that it is impossible to see these notes using the associated Google account out of ColorNote.
Considering how ambiguous it is to use the Google account login just to "authenticate", you should at least clearly mention this fact in the application.

ReplyDeleteHi..I just synced my ColorNotes using Gmail...but I don't understand how this will help if my phone is stolen or broken. Where is the "Colornote Online Service?" ..How would I view and restore my synced notes to a new phone?(forgive me if this is a dumb question, I'm fairly new to all this...
ReplyDeleteI've got a phone and a tablet, both with notes on.
ReplyDeleteCan I set both up to sync with each other without losing anything?
Please: Sync with Google tasks! This is the one thing that makes it unusable for me. I must have everythint together.
ReplyDeleteYour app is so great, so pleeease, sync with google tasks! :)
Hi, I also am wondering how to view/access online sync of notes. I do love the app and have an extensive collection of notes. Also, can notes be updated in the online location and syncd with phone? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to disable the online sync functionality and go back to SD card. Even when I signed out I don't see the backup option. It keeps on displaying the "session expired" message.
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to customise the reminder sound ? I just find it is easy to miss a reminder if you don't have the phone with you and being able to play a longer reminder sound would be very useful.
ReplyDeletei have the same problem as Cornhusker
ReplyDeletei get a notification from color note to say "session expired"
how can i remove the account information so that sync does not try to sync
i have uninstalled and reinstalled but color note still has my google account details in the sync properties with no option but to sign in or sign out.
even when you sign out my google account details are still there and i get the notification about "session expired" every hour or more
i do not want to use the sync option at all
It looks like my automatic backups to SD card stopped after this update (dates coincide). Now when I try to do it manually it says "Backup failed". The password is correct. I am, however, able to sync online.
ReplyDeleteGreat app! Fantastic and getting better, especially with the online sync. May I request for one feature: Copy Note. This will allow users to create "master" lists, lock, then duplicate them when needed for actual use. For instance, a receipe master ingredient list. When I need to shop for the ingredients, I just dupe the master and check off the "work" list. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt is a good idea to sync with desktop too, only make some OS independent application, to online sync - i sign in to online sync, now i want to sign out from online sync and all my notes are deleted, i restore my notes from sd card, but after backup restore im automaticly sign in - so how can i sign out?
ReplyDeleteAfter I Have synced My notes on App. Where can I find them on Gmail how I can edit them on Pc & get updated record on Android Mobile also saves and created on PC.
ReplyDeletePlease Reply Thanks
I started to enabled online sync but changed my mind before completing the sign up process. But ColorNote seems to think I completed it and now keeps prompting me to enter a password for an email account. No password seems to work as I'm sure the signup was not successful. There seems no way to disable this account and attempt to sign up again. I tried to use the "Sign Out" menu option but it then takes me straight back to the sign in screen.
ReplyDeleteIn on CN 3.6.6
@Ian - can you back up your notes to your SD then clear the app's data from the Android Settings > Applications. With ColorNote wiped, you could re-import from the SD and return to a good state.
ReplyDeleteAnyone got any thoughts on my merging phone & tablet issue?
Thanks @fishbowler. Clearing the app data worked.
ReplyDeleteto Ian - no, it is not good, see higher
ReplyDeleteWhat's the point of syncing with google if you cannot view via google?
ReplyDelete@newton2ii - backup. You're not syncing with GMail, you're syncing with the Google Apps cloud. What would you expect from Facebook sync? Don't get me wrong, GMail sync would be *awesome*.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to send email to my colornote to have it as task list or shopping list? Thanks for helping.
ReplyDeleteGMail sync would be lovely. What's the point of sync with Google cloud if I can get to see my notes. Not useful a t all
ReplyDeleteColorNote - Need sync to SOMETHING accessible on desktop. Is this in the works?
ReplyDeleteWell if your not syncing with gmail, what's the point?
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you let everyone know ahead of time that this does not support gmail? How do u get your. If. You've synched and your phone is lost or stolen?
sent my back up files to the other android phone. but where should i place the backup files to use it in the other phone? i tried sdcard/colournote/backup but cant open my saved files.
ReplyDeleteSo what is the point of syncing to my google account if I do not have tablet or "new phone"?. Great app BTW.
ReplyDeleteNice / Mauricio - the point is that if your phone is lost or stolen, you can set up sync on your replacement handset and immediately get all your notes back. This works equally well if you buy a New Android phone, or if an operating system upgrade requires a wipe.
ReplyDeleteI understand that the online sync does not store a copy of the backup/notes within your google account, however where is the data actually stored and how safe is it?
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very good app but not too sure how secure the online sync is for personal info etc.
Once the online sync of ColorNotes has happened with my google account, where can we find all the syncronized notes in my google account??
ReplyDelete@Arun - You can't. The sync isn't meant for online access. It's meant purely for backup. If you lose your phone you can enter your google details on your new phone and get your notes back.
ReplyDeleteThats my question how we can get it back. Because i am testing it by deleting my files but unable to get them back via google.
DeleteI am trying to simulate the lost phone scinaro.
Pls assist me.
Babar
Thanks Fishbowler. And if those notes are not available on online, is that they are secure or not
ReplyDeleteUse it for about a year. Very usefull app for me.
ReplyDeleteGot too much notes now, so want to suggest to add folder orginizing (mean not just color but a feature to create tree-like folders(or lables or somehow) so i can put my notes there.
And also some kind of way to organize it from desktop pc (web client, chrome plugin, gmail - anyhow)
Gmail synchronizing feater - is awesome!
Good luck.
How i can download incase if lose my phone. Secondly i can see the no of files sync but unable to access it online at google.
DeletePlease help.

ReplyDeleteI would love to use this app but I need possibility to sync with gtasks...
ReplyDeleteThe App is very useful. Please add
ReplyDelete- a browser client to access from Desktop/PC
- a tree based structure to group notes
- shareable notes with other accounts
You save my day :-)
I cannot find backup menu.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to Sign Out [Menu - Sign out], it warns me that the notes on the phone will be cleared after online sync.
Can I sign out and still be able to keep my notes?
I don't have sd card installed and I don't want to lose my notes.
Asking same question wherevin google can i see the sycned colornotes? Because if i want to update it online there is no way to do that.
ReplyDeleteBabar
Babar - you're on the right track - the Sync feature isn't for viewing online, but for disaster recovery or switching between devices. Re-creating it is a little tricky. You'd need to set up Sync, create some notes (or the other way round), then uninstall the app. Remove any trace of the notes from the SD card. Re-install the app - it should open blank. Set up sync again and the notes will appear.
ReplyDeleteI did not do any sync... I backed up all my colornote .dat and .idx files from sd card manually and then upgraded my OS version on Android HTC Desire. I downloaded the colornote app again and I cant see any notes. I found the old files (.dat & .idx) still exists on the sdcard but they wont load. How can I retrieve data from the .dat and idx files I have ? Please help...
ReplyDeleteOnline sync with google account doesnt work for me on my new phone : Motorola Pro+ (MB632) Android 2.3.6
ReplyDelete@Kenz - any error messages?
ReplyDelete@Sheraz - did you solve your problem? I've had the same thing before and solved it, but can't remember how it was done. If you did, can you post here so that Googlers might happen across it?
How do I fix this? Every time I close colornote or try to sync I get this:
ReplyDeleteSorry!
The application ColorNote (process com.socialmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note0 has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I have the same small problem with my ColorNote app that a number of others have!
ReplyDeleteI originally had the Online Sync functionality pointing to a particular Gmail account, I now want it to point to a different one, when I press “Sign in with Google”, I get the dialogue box expecting me to Allow access, but I want to change the account it links to but I can’t force it to do that, any ideas?
@Andrew - I've not had cause to try this before.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried visiting Google.com in your default browser and signing out - that might give you more options.
If that doesn't work, what about going to https://accounts.google.com/b/0/IssuedAuthSubTokens and revoking access to ColorNote?
Disclaimer: I'm nothing to do with the development of this app - I'm just another user.
Fishbowler, sorry for the delay in getting back to you; tried that and it didn't work. Thanks anyway!
ReplyDeleteAndrew - what do you see?
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I click on the ColorNote App, it takes me to the "Sign In" page for online backup. I have a warning at the stop stating that my 'Connection expired please sign in again'.
ReplyDeleteIt shows me my old Gmail address and I click on the "Sign in with Google" button.
It pops up the Google 'requesting permission' page, I don't want to allow access because this is my old address and I want to change which one it backs up with. So I click on my profile pic because I know the way Google works and this should give me a sign out option so hopefully I can sign in again with my new Gmail account.
It quickly loads a dialogue box that has the 'Sign Out' link but it's too quick and I can't hit the link in time. The whole Google 'Sign In' box then turns white and I can do anything except hitting the back button on the phone (HTC Sensation btw), doing this just takes me back to the back up 'Sign in' page!
Lost all my data last night. Using ColorNotes 3.6.6. on an Evo 4g phone. When I first installed last year, was not aware of the backup function. Have plugged my phone into my PC and see the data for the notes - it must be on my card. Is there a way to get that data back into notes? Thanks
ReplyDelete@Andrew - do you have any other browsers installed?
ReplyDelete@Agent - What folder is the data in?
To Fishbowler; It is in Data/Colornote/Backup. Those seem to be the fles, however, I can't open them to see. Thanks
ReplyDelete@Agent - looking at other ColorNote posts around the net, some have had luck with Menu > Settings > SD Card Backup. When prompted, give it 0000 as a passcode.
ReplyDeleteYes I do, Opera and Skyfire!
ReplyDelete@Andrew - which is your default browser? Was thinking that the auth might call the default rather than the stock. Sorry - I don't have a 2nd Google acct to test with...
ReplyDeleteFishbowler: IT WORKED!!! Thanks for all the help. I will now set it up for auto sync through my Gmail unless you think there is a better way. Once again, thanks. I didn't have a lot of notes but the ones i had were important.
ReplyDelete@Agent - absolutely the best & safest way. Remember that you won't be able to read your notes online, only restore them to your device if/when you next have data loss.
ReplyDeletePlease oh please add a few key features.
ReplyDelete1. Add PASTE as an input method for a new note. So that I can copy things from anywhere on my phone and save them as a note. This would be particularly handy to be able to copy from an email and paste into a note.
2. Voice to text would be spectacular for quick notes.
3. Last but certainly not least, as mentioned by others, please sync with google tasks. I really find it a nuisance to input information on my phone but if I could do it on my laptop and sync it my life would be so much easier and better-organized!
Same question as other users: How can I correctly unsign from Online Sync?
ReplyDeleteI use ColorDict with FBRreader. Time of long tapping is too big! Is there possibility to decrease this time or use double click instead?
ReplyDeleteI had Color Note on my Android. I saved my notes to my gmail account, which now I know is Color Note online. However, I downloaded Color Note for my new phone (iPhone) but I'm not abel to restore my notes. Help please!
ReplyDelete@Fishbowler
ReplyDeletei have the same problem as agent, how do i access the sd card backup?, can't seem to find it under my settings, any help would be awesome, thanks
If you have a backup there, ColorNote should find it when you press Menu > Settings > SD Card Backup.
ReplyDeleteIf you're using a file browser like ES File Explorer, you should see the files on your SD Card in /sdcard/data/colornote/backup - you can't open them from here, merely verify their existence.
How you I get them back in my color notes. I have the Galaxy 3. I put my sd card in from my HTC evo. I can see the file on the phone and on the pc but I can't get them back into color notes where I can read them.
Delete@Dallas Shopper - are you a UK user, per chance? There's a difference at Google's end between @gmail.com and @googlemail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks alot!
ReplyDeleteYou're amazing!
Hi, I have a phone with a broken screen and it has colornotes on it that I'd like to recover. I'm using an older version of colornote (before the fancier UI) and I only ever default-saved them, so I'm pretty sure they're not on the SD too. How can I recover these notes before I get a replacement phone?
ReplyDelete@Navifty - It's not difficult to check if it's on the SD. Pop the card into another phone or into an adapter and into a PC. Look in the data folder for a colornote folder.
ReplyDeleteI had to re-initialize my HTC Desire to factory settings because it was boot looping.
ReplyDeleteNow i've got the SD-Backups but the only option are "View" & "Delete" - so i can view the former notes, but can't restore.
Using App Version 3.8.7
Maybe it's because the backups are from an older version?
@BlackSpade - honestly, I have no idea on this one. You'd be best mailing the developer using the Email Developer link on the Play Store page - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI wrote to the support.
I had to reset phone and now can't access colornote backups. "0000" isn't working nor is password I had set up. Any ideas?
ReplyDeletemy email is tracystravels@yahoo.com
DeleteI'm done with the problems with this app, I've now downloaded and using Catch without any problems whatsoever!
ReplyDeletesoooo let me get this right...you can sync but only to the SD card...you can not view or access the notes online anywhere? Or am I mistaken. can someone email me at charfuer@gmail.com..thanks
ReplyDeleteSame problem as some of above, had to reload phone, colornote found sd backup copy of notes ok but keeps asking for online sync logon every time i start it. i have 2 google logons, one ending with gmail.com and the other with hotmail.com, both work via browser, and i entered the hotmail one when i reloaded colornote and probably needed to enter the gmail.com ending. now it will not accept my valid google hotmail.com logon/password (these do work via browser gmail access), and there is no way to change it to gmail.com, and no way to get rid of prompt other than 'log out' which erases all data, but presumably will let me enter the gmail.com logon and restore that online sync, and then i will want to reload to date from sd backup which is more current. so the question is: if i make a manual backup copy of the /data/colornote/backup directory somewhere else on the sd card, and then do the log out and erase all data, and then put the sd copy of the /data/colornote/backup directory back, will it find the notes ok again?
ReplyDeleteGreat app.
ReplyDeleteI recently dropped my Galaxy S and cracked the screen to the point that I cannot see/access any apps or data. I have some important data with in the ColorNote app that I would like to access. Is this possible from the SD card? Any other method, such as transferring the SD to another Android phone and ...?
Merci

ReplyDeleteHi, Nice post thanks for sharing. Would you please consider adding a link to my website on your page. Please email me back.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

I accidentally signed in with my Google account for online sync, rather than the email address I used previously. Now it won't let me switch, always asking me to sign in with Google. This persists after deleting cache, data, and deleting / reinstalling.
ReplyDeleteSuggestions?
Just sign out from your google account from your "default" browser..
DeleteHi, I've restored sd card backup from my HTC Wildfire. How do I do an online sync so I can access notes on my HTC Sensation XL as it has no external sd card. Anytime I do an online sync on the wildfire, I only get the last 5 notes, then I have to do an sd card backup.
ReplyDeleteCan not open my color notes because I forgot my password, can it be reset have some important info I need to access. Pat
ReplyDeleteGo to website. Its easy. Good luck
DeleteI had a problem with my phone and I afraid to lose my data. With the instructions I restore. Is the best app.
ReplyDeletethanks
How to send long notes using gmail?
DeleteColorNotes somehow cuts the note.. How can I access the notes using SD card?
The problem with sdcard backups is that you can not select a custom path, but instead the app automatically chooses a subdir below /data/
ReplyDeleteI would personally prefer to decide my self where to store the backups, so I can make sure to note wipe them if I should format my sdcard.
Hi.. I used a xyz@googlemail.com adress for syncing, but now I agreed to google to use xyz@gmail.com instead. Now.. every time I enter the googlemail adress for the syncing, google changes into the gmail adress. Getting nuts! I could omit syncing, but how.. I´ve read all your comments, similar problems, but i don´t see the solution..
ReplyDeleteThanks for help!
Hi there.. I am new into this kind of blog post but it seems that your topic triggers my curiosity and lead me new ideas and learning. Thank you for sharing such informative post. I would also be glad if you post some articles about 1800 toll free numbers. More power to you and more articles to read on soon.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, do you plan to introduce an online service for managing notes, or a PC application?
ReplyDeleteHey guys, thanks a bunch for the reply :[
DeleteI guess I am being too impatient to expect one after just over a week...
I recently went from a DroidX to the iphone 5. I have colornotes backed up on both my SD card from my droid and backed up through your online option also. There is a Colornote app for the iphone, but it is not free, its $2.99, stupid me, bought it thinking it would be easy to import the backup from the droid to the iphone app version, NOT. There is not even any options or setting that I can see in the colornotes iphone app version, I am out $3 and no solution, if anyone could be of help, I would really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Jenn
It looks like Colornote for iPhone is a different app, by a different developer ( in Norway), that happens to have the same name, unfortunately.
DeleteI am about to change from DroidX also to iPhone, will I be able to get an app from you and see my notes?
DeleteI also have the note files on my pc , they are listed as .idx files and at this point have not found a program to read the files on my laptop...any suggestions?

I love your product and use it on both my Nexus 7 and Droid x2. My only quibble is that the syncing between the two is unpredictable--sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I tested behavior between the devices and discovered that the only way to ensure syncing consistently occurs across devices is as follows:
ReplyDeleteDevice A: (1) make change; (2) sync
Device B: (3) sync
My problem is that step 2 should be unnecessary-when I close out a note on Device A, it saves that note, and Device B should, when syncing, automatically seek out that latest saved version. But for some reason it doesn't do that. Moreover, one cannot sync from within a specific note itself, especially annoying because I mainly use the same 3 or 4 colornotes as checklists (via the widget).
This means that in order to properly ensure consistent syncing across devices I need to (in Device A) back out of the note, reopen the main app to trigger the autosync, then (in Device B) open the main app as opposed to the note itself.
Perhaps this ridiculously cumbersome procedure could be shortened by creating a toggle-able option to autosync upon closing/saving?
Thanks.
This app would be SOOOOOOOO perfect if I could sync it with my pc. :(
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteSync with PC and share with other accounts!
Please!
Wont sync with my google accounts

I am having exactly the same issue! Have you found a way around this, Goran? (I moved from Android 4 back to stock Android 2 on my Galaxy S Vibrant) Thanks.
DeleteThis is what happens to me on the Galaxy SII. It worked fine on my G2X.
DeleteI am having the same issue as well on both my Razr and Nexus 7 tablet
Deletetried it from different phones, sony, motorola, htc....
Deleteand it stuck on loading....
I think it some problem with my account on google
can someone help
how to view it in desktop backup ? can we see it in gmail or google plus a backup copy on computer ?please reply
ReplyDeleteReally trustworthy blog entry I have ever found.. Its also informative information. Thanks for sharing your experience with us…
ReplyDeleteTelephone
Has the desktop client came out yet?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely would like to see a 'sync to pc' option. Heck, the developer could even hit me up for something reasonable to do this, ie a buck or two.. I would pay it to have PC access to edit, create, delete, etc etc notes, and then have them sync to the phone!
ReplyDelete
